Her research aims at understanding the mechanisms underlying forest resistance and resilience to disturbances and the chance of ecosystem collapse. She is interested in developing methodological approaches capturing the intrinsic complexity of forest dynamics and informing forest management and planning of pragmatic solutions to guarantee forest sustainability. She has proposed quantitative indicators and multivariate descriptive analyses based on species functional traits and community resemblance metrics with the aim of improving the understanding of forest responses to disturbances in different environmental contexts and along successional trajectories. She is also interested in studying the regeneration capacity of poorly adapted species after disturbances, depending on inter-species interactions and environmental conditions.
